You must do PR! This should be my mantra. Maybe I’ll have it printed on T-shirts and painted onto my car…but you MUST!
That’s if you want to get noticed, raise your profile and ultimately, make those sales increases!
But it’s not easy if you haven’t spent a lifetime writing stories like I have…as a child, at university, then into journalism and onto PR. I’ve literally never stopped writing and never will.
It’s my passion!
I just luuuurve English, words, grammar, language, punctuation and all that jazz but I appreciate that many others don’t and that’s one of the reasons PR isn’t done by businesses.
But…it really is worth it and if you don’t have the time / know-how, outsource it like you would any other job you know you can’t/don’t want to do!
(Rant over about how much I love English)
Here are the barriers I hear from clients when we talk about sending PR out – all of which can be overcome very easily!
- “I don’t know how to write…”
But I do, so all I need is the brief, info and messages and away I go…on the smallest nugget of info sometimes! - “I don’t know who to send it to…”
But again, I do – and I create a bespoke media list for each of my clients. - “I can’t afford to have a press release written”
But compare it to the ROI it can give you and it’s a no brainer! - “I don’t need to be in the press…”
Oh yes you do – and I’m going to tell you why!
Here are the reasons you need to be in the media with your business, your stories and your company news:
Raise your profile:
Let people know you’re there, what you’re doing, your big contract wins, your news, your expertise and remind them about you
Attract your next client:
Your next big, fantastic client could be reading! They could be right around the corner and now they’ve read your PR, they’re picking the phone up, booking a meeting and spending their money with you in no time at all!
Frequent PR keeps you in mind:
And it’s this consistent messaging, these reminders that show people you’re serious about your PR and knowhow to do it.
Make your competition quiver:
When they see you in this magazine, hear you in that interview, see you giving comment on that one over there and being the go-to expert with lots of PR, they will wonder how you’re doing it and believe me, they’ll wish they were too.
Trust:
The more people see and hear from you, the more they know, like and trust you. Your PR coverage will be supplemented with social media, blogs and website news too, giving you maximum exposure from one PR, so people will keep seeing you and your brand out there!
Recruitment – people will want to work for you if they see you getting some good coverage, getting in the news, doing good stuff and shouting about it. They might even approach you and that’s a massive saving on recruitment costs!
So…if you’re thinking about some great PR and what it can do for you, take a look at my socials and see all of the coverage I’m gaining for my clients and if you want a slice of the cake too, get in touch!
