We’re so excited to be working with The Hopper Huts – Kent’s newest countryside retreat.
They’re in the East Kent countryside at Boughton-under-Blean, and have been restored to their former hopper hut holiday glory by Lucy Berry, married to Josh Berry whose family has farmed the land for several generations.
Back in Victorian times, they were used by families who travelled down from London, looking for some country air and to help the farmers with their hop picking. It was a family affair – everyone would come and the holidays provided much-needed fresh air and a break from the pollution of the capital!
They’ve been restored to provide holidays once again, just without the hop picking. And they have some wonderful hop-picking names:
The Scuppet, The Pocket, The Bruff, The Stilts!
We’ve been lucky enough to have a tour ahead of them being opened for stays in June and can tell you that they are a wonderful retreat for families, couples, friends or even on your own. It’s very peaceful there, with lots on your doorstep if you want to get out and about. Faversham is 5 mins away and Canterbury is 15 mins away – at least a weekend of exploring between those two to get you started!
