I can’t believe it – I’ve actually run a marathon in a week!
I’m so thrilled to have completed the #2.6Challenge for my charity of the year, Holding On Letting Go (HOLG). Like so many charities at the moment, they’re suffering from a lack of donations due to the pandemic. HOLG’s vital work involves supporting bereaved children and their families, a service that sadly is needed more than ever at present. In fact, they have recently helped a very good friend of mine whose husband died after contracting the corona virus, leaving their young daughter without her dad.
So, I set myself the challenge of running 26 miles in 7 days to raise much-needed funds, as part of the #2.6 Challenge, set up by the London Marathon organisers to help charities recover some of their lost income. My new daily exercise regime also included 26 press ups and sit ups.
There were highs – such as having the beautiful Boughton Golf course for a running track (thank you Cave Hotels!) and lows – running in hail stones is not fun! But undoubtedly, the biggest highlight is that I smashed my fundraising target and managed to raise over £500! The money will help HOLG to continue to support children and their families dealing with the most difficult time of their lives. You can find out more about the great work they do by reading some of the personal stories on their website.
I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support and donations, I couldn’t have done it without you. There’s still time to donate, I’m asking for just £2.60 – a small amount that could make a huge difference https://www.justgiving.com/fundr…/sarah-s-2-6-challenge226
