Did you promise yourself you’d smarten up your online act in 2020?
How are you getting on?
We’ve got some 5-minute checks and tips to refresh your social media profiles and tidy your website in just a matter of moments.
- Check social media profiles
Ensure all the settings are filled in so your profiles are complete.
Is your description of yourself/your business still up to date and accurate?
If you use LinkedIn, is your ‘experience’ section still relevant?
Do you need to add a new profile picture? (you’ll be amazed at the number of people who try to get away with shots from ten years ago!)?
Do any background images of your business need refreshing?
- Find more followers
Scroll through your contacts on LinkedIn, ‘who to follow’ on Twitter and ‘suggestions for you’ on Instagram – are there any useful new connections you could make?
- Website links
Look through all the links on your website. Do they all work? Do they all point to the correct destinations? Don’t frustrate customers with broken links!
Check your social buttons – we find at least one website a week that has social media buttons that go nowhere, or just take you to Twitter etc – not to that business’s actual timeline!
Are your images/logos/font the same across your website and social media? Consistent branding across all channels gives a professional, slick appearance.
- Contact details
Check your email address, telephone number and social media handles are correct across all your channels. Nothing is more irritating to potential customers than a phone number that doesn’t connect or an email that bounces back!
- Sign-up for an automated social media tool
Social media scheduling tools can be a lifesaver when it comes to generating regular, timely content. If you don’t use one already, sign up for a service such as ContentCal or Hootsuite to help you stay on top of your timelines.
Got a bit more time?
Taking some time each month to plan social media posts, blogs, website updates and refresh photography is vital for attracting new clients. It ensures your online presence is fresh, topical and engaging and helps improve your SEO.
